Happy new year!

The year hasn't started great, with the new restrictions on exporting all types of Rosewood, this means I can no longer offer Rosewood trimmings on banjos for customers outside the EU. I have a reasonable stash in stock so can still offer it to EU customers for now!
The 2 banjos I was making for Lin in Australia both had Indian Rosewood fingerboards and peghead overlays so I'm having to remake them both to save all the hassle, expense and time of applying for a CITES certificate for export. It is rather annoying but at least the nearly finished necks will get used on other banjos. The new necks are coming along nicely, with attractive Purple Heart fingerboards and peghead overlays.
I was donated an old banjo with a broken neck last week (thanks Tym), a W.E Temlett with a 10" pot, I may use one of the redundant necks to fix it up. Should make a nice little 'child size'  banjo for my son to learn on!
I have some exciting projects lined up for this year, including a Cello banjo and a Viking themed banjo! I have also been designing a new standard model open-back, which I'm hoping to get going by Summer.
Just before I Christmas I stocked up on American Black Walnut and Cherry planks which I will be ripping up and gluing into rims and neck blanks soon. The American Black Walnut is now costing me nearly 3 times the price of Cherry and Maple so unfortunately I have had to add extra to cost of banjos made from Walnut, all other prices will remain the same for the rest of the year.
