Finally, after 6 days of oiling/cutting back, I have just applied the final coat to these commissions. Tomorrows job will be be staining and stretching skins, all rather 'kinky' stuff! Also, just got these pretty cool t-shirts from the printers, just in time for Halloween, one included free with every future banjo order or £12 if you just fancy one. Choice of black or red but only in size large. Progress has been a little slow on these three commissions due to the dreaded lurgy working its way through the family. In between the coughing, sneezing, feeling like crap and looking after sick kids I did manage to get some inlay done! The mother of pearl 'man in the moon' is inlaid ready for engraving and the 3 pegheads have a silver star, a brass 'M' and a Rosewood moon inset. Monday will be spent carving the rear of the necks followed by lots of sanding before oiling, and if the kids refrain from bringing more germs into the house, I should be assembling the following week! |
